Responsibilities
- Drive a school bus safely and efficiently along a designated route to pick up and drop off students at schools and designated stops.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers by enforcing school bus safety rules and maintaining order on the bus.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school staff regarding routes, delays, or any student concerns.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, including cleaning spills or debris immediately.
- Complete all required paperwork, including daily logs, incident reports, and attendance sheets.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and school district policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Current Medical Certificate (DOT Medical Card) or ability to obtain one.
- Must pass a background check, including a driving record check and fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (or 18 for a school bus only endorsement depending on state laws).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate a school bus in all weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
