Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle maintenance logs
- Supervise student conduct and ensure safety protocols during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adapt routes for field trips, athletic events, and special needs transportation
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and student safety concerns
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year of professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening requirements
- Clear background check and driving record
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Patience and dedication to working with children
