Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Supervise student behavior during transit and maintain a positive, orderly environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or concerns
- Document student attendance and incident reports as required by district policies
- Adhere to strict schedules and maintain punctuality for all pick-up/drop-off points
- Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record (minimum 3 years)
- Ability to obtain Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
- Pass federal background check and drug screening requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse student populations
- Patience, reliability, and commitment to student safety
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with children preferred
