Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student boarding, seating, and exiting with firm yet compassionate authority
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident reporting records
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and student safety concerns
- Participate in mandatory safety training and route familiarization
Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Clean driving record (no DUI/DWI convictions in past 5 years)
- Pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Knowledge of Seattle-area streets and traffic patterns
