Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of buses and maintain daily vehicle maintenance logs
- Ensure student safety through proper loading/unloading procedures and route monitoring
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic regulations
- Maintain a positive, supportive environment for all students during transit
- Report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately to maintenance team
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 3 years clean driving record (no major violations in past 5 years)
- Pass background check and DOT physical examination
- Completed Texas School Bus Driver Certification Program
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings and afternoons)
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
