Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic regulations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Supervise student behavior during transit, maintaining a secure and positive environment
- Enforce safety protocols including proper seatbelt usage and emergency procedures
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route updates
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident documentation
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation laws and district policies
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination
- Excellent communication skills and patience when working with children
- Ability to manage student behavior calmly and effectively
- Strong knowledge of Baton Rouge roadways and traffic patterns
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Reliable transportation to designated bus depots
