Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student behavior and ensure a positive, respectful environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district transportation regulations
- Complete required paperwork and incident reports accurately
- Assist students with mobility needs including wheelchair lifts
Qualifications
- Valid Alaska Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to obtain Class B Commercial Driver's Permit (CDL) with Passenger/School Bus Endorsements
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist with student mobility equipment
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with children preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings/afternoons)
