Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior during transit, maintaining a positive and orderly environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere to strict safety protocols during emergency situations and adverse weather
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Assist students with boarding/alighting, including those with special needs
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screening
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with children preferred
