Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses following strict safety protocols and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student behavior during transit and ensure orderly boarding/exiting
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adapt routes for field trips, athletic events, and extracurricular activities
- Complete accurate incident reports and mileage documentation
- Maintain professional conduct representing the district's values
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening (provided)
- Minimum 21 years of age with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Availability for early morning and afternoon shifts
- Background check clearance through Louisiana Department of Education
