Responsibilities
- Safely operate school bus on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections ensuring mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior and maintain a positive, secure environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Assist students with mobility needs and emergency protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
Qualifications
- Valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain
- Minimum 21 years old with clean driving record
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Background clearance through NYSED fingerprinting
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with special needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior child supervision experience preferred
