Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Safely operate heavy-duty dump trucks, including 10-wheel and 4-wheel drive models, to transport various materials such as sand, gravel, dirt, and construction debris.
- Route Planning: Plan efficient delivery routes to job sites while adhering to traffic laws and local Honolulu regulations.
- Load Management: Ensure loads are properly secured and evenly distributed to prevent damage to the vehicle and ensure safety during transit.
- Site Duties: Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any issues immediately. Assist with basic site grading and leveling as directed by the Site Foreman.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate daily logs (DOT/ELD) and ensure all safety protocols and OSHA regulations are strictly followed at all times.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch, project managers, and site supervisors regarding delivery times and site conditions.
Qualifications
- License: Valid Hawaii Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid DOT medical card.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating dump trucks in a commercial or construction environment.
- Vehicle Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of dump truck mechanics, including hydraulic systems, brake maintenance, and general mechanical troubleshooting.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam. Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Record: Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or DUIs within the last 3 years.
- Equipment: Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission trucks.
