Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks and trailers to deliver freight across the Midwest region on time and within budget.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment (forklifts, straps, chains) to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and all required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and route changes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating the vehicle.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents immediately to fleet management.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B (depending on vehicle type).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable driving experience in a commercial environment.
- Clean driving record with no major violations (DUI, reckless driving, etc.) in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and safety procedures.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional overtime.
