Responsibilities
- Operate commercial Class A trucks safely and efficiently on local and regional delivery routes within the DC metro area.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual labor, ensuring cargo security and proper weight distribution.
- Maintain accurate records using electronic logging devices (ELD) and delivery logs, ensuring 100% compliance with hours-of-service rules.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and special handling instructions.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the truck cab and cargo area before, during, and after shifts.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the District of Columbia or a state with reciprocity.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving) in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Must be available to work weekends (Friday through Sunday) on a rotating or fixed schedule.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
