Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Commercial Vehicles: Drive tractor-trailers, straight trucks, or box trucks in a professional and safe manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and Unload Cargo: Efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mileage, delivery times, and cargo manifests using electronic logging devices (ELD) and paper logs.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers and delivery sites, handling any issues or special delivery instructions with courtesy and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL: Possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the appropriate endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples) as required by the position.
- Clean Driving Record: A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations within the last 3-5 years.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading trucks.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday) as required by the schedule.
- Experience: Proven experience in long-haul or local truck driving is preferred.
