Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vans to deliver goods to commercial and residential locations within the Washington DC metro area.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo carefully to prevent damage, utilizing proper lifting techniques and equipment.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and paperwork, including electronic proof of delivery (ePOD).
- Interact professionally with customers, addressing inquiries and resolving delivery issues efficiently.
- Keep the vehicle clean and organized, reporting any maintenance needs immediately.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not always required depending on cargo.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional driving experience in a similar role.
- Clean driving record with no major violations (DUI, reckless driving, etc.).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of the Washington DC metropolitan road network and traffic patterns.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for using handheld delivery devices.
