Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport goods across Chicago metropolitan area
- Conduct thorough pre/post-trip inspections and maintain accurate DOT compliance logs
- Plan efficient routes while adhering to delivery schedules and traffic regulations
- Load/unload cargo using appropriate equipment and verify shipment documentation
- Communicate with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status and potential delays
- Implement strict safety protocols including securement procedures and cargo monitoring
- Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance driving skills and regulatory knowledge
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or B license with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Proficiency in electronic logging device (ELD) systems
- Strong knowledge of Chicago-area roads and traffic patterns
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate loading equipment
- Flexibility to work variable shifts including early mornings, nights, and weekends
