Responsibilities
- Operate Commercial Vehicles: Safely and efficiently drive 18-wheelers, box trucks, or straight trucks to deliver freight to various destinations within and outside the region.
- Route Planning: Utilize GPS and mapping software to plan the most efficient routes, ensuring timely delivery and fuel efficiency.
- Load & Unload: Secure cargo using straps, chains, and cargo bars to prevent damage during transit. Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any mechanical issues immediately to maintenance to ensure compliance and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, and logs (ELD) in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients and shippers, maintaining a professional image at all times.
Qualifications
- CDL Required: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples).
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years. No DUIs or reckless driving incidents.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience (experience preferred but not always mandatory for new grads).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, pass a DOT physical exam, and have the stamina to sit for long periods.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Legal Status: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
