Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks over various routes within Chicago and the greater Midwest region.
- Execute pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance and report any mechanical issues.
- Load and unload cargo securely, adhering to all weight distribution and load-securing regulations.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and mandatory documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
- Uphold a professional image while representing Metro Freight Transport at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or Class B with the required endorsements.
- Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Medical Card).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and background check.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and route planning.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic logbooks and invoicing systems.
