Responsibilities
- Safely transport students along designated routes to and from school and school-related activities in compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Monitor student behavior on the bus to ensure a safe and orderly environment, enforcing school policies as necessary.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, particularly those with special needs or disabilities.
- Communicate effectively with school administration, parents, and dispatch regarding delays, route changes, or student issues.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary bus interior at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- A clean driving record with no major traffic violations within the past 3-5 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and background check (criminal history and fingerprinting).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain discipline in a classroom-like setting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to work early morning and/or late afternoon hours.
