Responsibilities
- Safely Transport Students: Drive school buses along designated routes in a safe and timely manner, ensuring the well-being of all passengers.
- Vehicle Inspection: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is mechanically sound and safe for operation.
- Route Management: Adhere to strict schedules and routes, maintaining punctuality and making necessary stops efficiently.
- Student Safety: Supervise students during loading and unloading, maintaining order and ensuring they remain seated while the bus is in motion.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with dispatch, school administrators, and parents regarding route changes or delays.
- Incident Reporting: Report any accidents, mechanical issues, or safety concerns immediately to management.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class B: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Clean Driving Record: A satisfactory driving record free of major violations or accidents within the last 3-5 years.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check.
- Physical Health: Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience: Previous experience driving a commercial vehicle is preferred but not always required (training provided).
