Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Supervise student boarding, exiting, and behavior during transit
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district transportation regulations
- Provide emergency assistance and first aid when necessary
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to obtain Illinois School Bus Driver certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Basic knowledge of Chicago geography and traffic patterns
