Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus on designated routes and field trips, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers by maintaining order and enforcing school bus safety rules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, particularly those with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, including regular trash collection and disinfecting.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school administrators, and dispatch regarding schedule changes or student issues.
- Complete all required documentation, including daily logs and incident reports, accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class B endorsement and a Passenger (P) endorsement.
- A clean driving record with no recent DUI, reckless driving, or serious moving violations.
- Pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and motor vehicle record.
- The ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening test.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
