Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses adhering to all traffic laws and school district protocols
- Conduct thorough pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance reports
- Manage student boarding, exiting, and seating arrangements ensuring safety
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Respond to student needs with patience and professionalism
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident documentation
- Follow emergency procedures and evacuation protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P/S endorsement
- Minimum 1 year driving experience
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years)
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
