Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior during transit and enforce bus rules respectfully
- Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate with parents/guardians
- Adhere to strict schedules and emergency procedures
- Report maintenance issues and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Complete required training and certification programs
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and air brake endorsements
- Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and physical examination
- School Bus Driver Certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong attention to detail and safety consciousness
- High school diploma or equivalent
