Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (Class A or B) in accordance with FMCSA regulations and company policies.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring weight distribution and proper securing of freight.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic logging device (ELD) records and driver logs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, speed limits, and safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and delays.
- Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples if applicable).
- Current DOT Medical Card or Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Clean driving record with no major violations within the last 3 years (MVR check required).
- Pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of local and regional roadways in Virginia Beach and surrounding areas.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and perform physical duties associated with loading and unloading.
- Basic computer skills for logging and communication purposes.
