Responsibilities
- Safely transport students along designated routes and to school activities in accordance with established schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is mechanically sound and safe.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment inside the bus at all times.
- Monitor student behavior to ensure safety while boarding, riding, and exiting the vehicle.
- Follow all traffic laws, school district policies, and safety regulations strictly.
- Communicate effectively with parents, dispatchers, and school staff regarding delays or concerns.
- Assist students with disabilities or special needs as required by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
- Clean driving record (no DUIs, reckless driving, or major traffic violations within the last 3-5 years).
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, professional demeanor when interacting with children and parents.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during the shift.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
