Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial Class A or Class B vehicles on highways and local routes within the DC metropolitan area.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and compliance.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo according to weight and balance regulations.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Practice defensive driving techniques to ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and the public.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B with appropriate endorsements (e.g., HazMat).
- A clean driving record (MVR) with no more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations in the District of Columbia and surrounding states.
- Basic mechanical skills to perform minor troubleshooting on the vehicle.
