Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in safe operating condition.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or hand jacks, ensuring weight distribution is correct.
- Maintain accurate driver logs (ELD) and electronic logs of hours of service (HOS).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and route changes.
- Keep the truck cab and cargo area clean and organized.
- Resolve minor mechanical issues on the road or report major ones immediately to maintenance.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B with required endorsements.
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious traffic violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS), and cargo securement.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if necessary.
