Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Commercial Vehicles: Execute daily routes in a safe, legal, and professional manner, adhering to all federal and state traffic regulations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal operating condition and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Cargo Handling: Safely load and unload freight, ensuring cargo is secured properly and remains intact throughout the transit period.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily logs, delivery receipts, and incident reports in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Customer Service: Represent the company professionally while interacting with clients and ensuring timely, courteous deliveries.
- Route Planning: Follow designated delivery schedules and navigate efficiently to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and participate in ongoing safety training programs.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL License: Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the state of North Carolina.
- Clean Driving Record: A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations in the past 3-5 years.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and meet the physical demands of the job (lifting, sitting, walking).
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with dispatch and customers.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic ability to use electronic logging devices (ELD) and onboard navigation systems.
- Reliability: A strong track record of attendance and punctuality is essential.
