Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks and vans to deliver goods to designated locations within the Chicago metro area.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and DOT standards.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing loads to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and ensure all logs are up-to-date.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, and any issues encountered.
- Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and presentable at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B required.
- Must possess a clean driving record (MVR) with no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and a pre-employment drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, map reading, and route navigation.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends if necessary.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting purposes.
