Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Safely load and secure cargo according to weight and balance regulations, using proper tie-down techniques.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company policies to maintain a clean safety record.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and all required shipping documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delays, route changes, or delivery issues.
- Practice defensive driving techniques at all times to minimize risk and ensure the safety of the public and your cargo.
- Keep the truck cab and trailer clean and organized at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B with a clean driving record (MVR).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
- Current DOT medical card and DOT physical on file.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of Chicago area roads and logistics hubs.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to perform minor truck maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
