Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Vehicles: Transport cargo across regional and long-haul routes in a safe, legal, and professional manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain Fleet Integrity: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any issues immediately and reporting them to management.
- Customer Service: Deliver freight in a timely fashion, ensuring packages and cargo are handled with care and placed at the designated location.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain all necessary logs, including DVIRs, delivery receipts, and bills of lading in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Freight Handling: Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring weight distribution is correct for safe transport.
- Communication: Maintain constant communication with dispatch and customers to update on ETA and any potential delays.
Qualifications
- CDL Class A License: Must possess a valid US CDL Class A license with a clean driving record (no major violations within the last 3-5 years).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
- Endorsements: Hazmat and Tanker endorsements are a strong plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, including vision and hearing tests; ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Documentation: Must have a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC).
- Residency: Must be willing to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Chicago, IL.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with electronic logging devices (ELD) and onboard navigation systems.
