Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks in a safe, legal, and defensive manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement using appropriate straps and chains.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic logging device (ELD) records and delivery documents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) and New York State regulations regarding Hours of Service (HOS).
- Represent the company professionally while maintaining a clean and professional driving image.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by New York State.
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) and DOT medical card.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no more than two preventable accidents in the past three years.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug and alcohol screening test.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to perform minor vehicle troubleshooting.
