Responsibilities
- Operate commercial Class A vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver freight to the Port of New Orleans and surrounding industrial zones.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure DOT compliance and vehicle safety.
- Load and unload cargo using proper lifting techniques and securing equipment (chains, straps, tarps).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic logging device (ELD) records and delivery paperwork.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and potential delays.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A required.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (local/regional preferred).
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) and valid DOT drug screen on file.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations in the last 3 years.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials (HazMat) or tanker endorsements is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
