Responsibilities
- Operate Vehicles: Safely and efficiently operate commercial trucks (Class A or B) to deliver freight to designated locations on time.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and report any maintenance needs.
- Cargo Handling: Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing cargo to prevent damage.
- Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate electronic logging devices (ELD), delivery receipts, and other required paperwork.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch, customers, and warehouse staff regarding route changes, delays, or issues.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Vehicle Care: Keep the cab and trailer clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
Qualifications
- CDL Required: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with the appropriate endorsements (Hazmat preferred but not always required).
- Driving Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable professional driving experience in a commercial setting.
- Medical Certification: Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and possess a current medical card.
- Background Check: Clean driving record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Navigation Skills: Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road conditions, and proficiency in using GPS and navigation systems.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, sit for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading freight.
- Time Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
