The Role
As a Delivery Driver for Metro Freight Express, you will be the face of our company. You will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across Michigan and Ohio. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean, modern fleet and expect our drivers to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles (Class A or Class B) on designated routes in Detroit and Ohio.
- Load and unload freight accurately, ensuring cargo security and proper handling of hazardous materials when required.
- Verify delivery documents and obtain electronic signatures from customers upon delivery.
- Maintain a clean and safe driving record by adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical readiness.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and any delays.
- Adhere to strict DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no more than 3 points).
- Must possess a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) and a DOT Medical Card.
- Current Hazmat and Tanker endorsements are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable driving experience in a professional capacity.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of map reading and GPS navigation systems.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
