Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 10-26ft box truck within the Washington, DC metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of freight to designated customers and drop-off points.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel, and delivery logs in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Secure cargo properly using straps and straps to prevent damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch to confirm pick-up times and route changes.
- Interact professionally with clients, providing exceptional customer service at every stop.
Qualifications
- Must own a qualifying box truck (10-26 feet) with valid registration and insurance.
- Current DOT number and valid DOT physical card (if applicable to your operation).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable box truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) and ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Strong knowledge of DC area streets, traffic patterns, and loading zones.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict delivery deadlines.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not always required for box trucks depending on cargo.
