Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
- Supervise student conduct during transit, enforcing safety protocols and behavioral standards
- Maintain accurate attendance records and communication logs with school administrators
- Respond professionally to parent inquiries and emergency situations
- Adapt routes for field trips, extracurricular activities, and special events
- Complete mandatory safety training and certification programs
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience with clean MVR record
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Ability to work early mornings (5:00 AM start) and flexible afternoon hours
- Strong communication skills with ability to manage student behavior
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Knowledge of New Orleans street systems and traffic patterns
