Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks (Class A or B) to deliver freight to various locations in San Jose and the surrounding Bay Area on weekends.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR) to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual labor as required.
- Maintain accurate logs and electronic logging device (ELD) records in strict adherence to FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
- Ensure the security of cargo and the safety of the vehicle at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements (Hazmat/Tanker preferred but not always required).
- A clean driving record with no more than two preventable accidents in the last three years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues on the road.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
