Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
- Supervise student conduct during transit and enforce safety rules
- Maintain accurate attendance records and route documentation
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus including wheelchair assistance when needed
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to emergency procedures and student safety protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
