Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from schools and field trips following designated routes
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate maintenance logs
- Enforce student safety protocols including seating, behavior management, and emergency procedures
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, safety regulations, and district policies
- Respond calmly to unexpected situations including weather delays or medical emergencies
- Maintain a clean, orderly bus environment fostering student respect
Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger/School Bus endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum 21 years of age with clean driving record
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage student behavior with patience and authority
- Strong attention to detail and route navigation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and occasional weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent required
