Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Commercial Vehicles: Drive 26-foot box trucks and straight trucks on local and regional routes within the New York metropolitan area.
- Load and Unload Cargo: Ensure accurate loading, securing, and unloading of freight using proper equipment and techniques.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is road-ready and report any maintenance needs immediately.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs (ELD), bills of lading, and delivery receipts according to DOT regulations.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, ensuring packages are delivered on time and in good condition.
- Route Planning: Follow assigned routes efficiently, accounting for traffic and road conditions.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL License: Possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL with the appropriate endorsements (Tanker, Hazmat, or Doubles/Triples preferred).
- Clean Driving Record: Must have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations in the last 3 years.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and use GPS navigation systems.
- DOT Compliance: Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and possess a current medical card.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred.
