Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport goods across Virginia and surrounding regions
- Conduct thorough pre-trip/post-trip inspections and maintain accurate DOT compliance logs
- Ensure timely deliveries while adhering to strict safety protocols and traffic regulations
- Coordinate with dispatchers and clients for efficient route planning and customer service
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance needs promptly
- Participate in ongoing safety training and certification programs
- Handle specialized cargo requiring secure loading/unloading procedures
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience with hazmat endorsement preferred
- Pass federal background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Proficiency in electronic logging devices (ELD) and GPS navigation systems
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and Virginia state transport laws
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility for irregular schedules including overnight trips
