Responsibilities
- Safely transport K-12 students on designated routes adhering to strict schedules and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough pre/post-trip inspections of buses and report maintenance needs
- Implement student management procedures ensuring orderly conduct and emergency preparedness
- Maintain accurate attendance logs and communication with parents/school administrators
- Adhere to federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Operate specialized equipment including wheelchair lifts and adaptive restraints
- Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development programs
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement (S & P)
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience with clean MVR record
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Illinois School Bus Driver Permit or ability to obtain within 30 days
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to complete training
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate mobility equipment
- Clear background check and fingerprint clearance
- Excellent communication skills and patience working with diverse student populations
