Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial Class A tractor-trailers to transport goods to designated delivery points within the Midwest region.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and all required paperwork, including bills of lading and delivery receipts.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring weight distribution and proper securing techniques are used.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, speed limits, and company driving policies to ensure the safety of the crew and public.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to provide real-time updates on delivery status and any delays.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and lights, before and during shifts.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience driving a semi-truck or tractor-trailer.
- Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card) and a current DOT drug screen on file.
- Ability to pass a background check and a comprehensive motor vehicle records (MVR) review.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and operating heavy machinery or hand tools for loading/unloading.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to navigate routes efficiently using GPS and map software.
