Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of buses to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior during transit and enforce district policies
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with mobility challenges
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure student safety at all times
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement (Class B)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience
- Clear driving record and ability to pass background check and drug screening
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Knowledge of Laredo area streets and neighborhoods preferred
