Responsibilities
- Safety First: Safely transport students to and from school, as well as school-sponsored activities, following established routes and schedules.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe, operating condition; report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Student Management: Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus, managing student behavior and enforcing safety rules while loading and unloading.
- Communication: Interact professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers regarding delays, route changes, or student concerns.
- Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and school district policies.
Qualifications
- License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P) endorsement.
- Record: Clean driving record; no major traffic violations or DUIs within the last 7 years.
- Background: Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
- Availability: Must be available to work varying shifts, including early mornings and early afternoons.
