Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain orderly student conduct and implement safety protocols during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding delays or incidents
- Complete accurate daily trip logs and incident documentation
- Adhere to federal/state transportation regulations and company policies
- Assist students with mobility needs and provide emergency first aid when required
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger & School Bus endorsements
- Minimum 1 year of professional driving experience (commercial preferred)
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clear driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Ability to obtain Department of Transportation medical certification
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse age groups
- Flexibility to cover additional routes during peak seasons
- High school diploma or equivalent required
