Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Supervise student conduct during transport and enforce district safety protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and student needs
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district transportation regulations
Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage student behavior professionally and compassionately
- Punctual with reliable attendance record
- Knowledge of Pittsburgh area streets and traffic patterns
