Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from school and field trips following strict DC traffic laws
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate maintenance logs
- Implement student management protocols ensuring a respectful, secure environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes
- Adhere to federal/state transportation regulations including FMCSA guidelines
- Respond to emergencies with calm, decisive action per training protocols
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record (minimum 3 years)
- Pass background check and drug screening (DCPS requirements)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P endorsement)
- Experience working with children preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills and patience in diverse environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit for extended periods
